Mary Katherine Silcox, 65, of Palmetto, Florida, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at home. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Mary was born February 1, 1961, in Utica, New York, to Chester and Beverly (Wildhack) Milostan. She is survived by her sisters, Judith Ann Milostan of Plano, Texas, and Sandra Holm (Terry) of Greensboro, Georgia; her brother, Mark Milostan of New Windsor, New York; and seven nieces and nephews, Jeffrey (Margaret) Holm, Julie (David) Yeager, Mark Milostan Jr., Jon Paul (Brooke) Milostan, Megan (Evran) Okzul, Chris Milostan, and Catherine Milostan. Her parents preceded her in death.
Mary received an Associate degree in Animal Science: Equine Studies from SUNY Cobleskill. Her love of horses led her to a career working for Stadium Jumping, Traverse City Horse Shows, Lake Placid Horse Shows, and Silo Ridge Masters. She was dedicated to providing exceptional graphic art designs for horse show catalogs, among her many responsibilities.
Mary was a member of the Auxiliary at VFW Post 2488 in Palmetto, Florida. For many years, she served as president of the auxiliary, organizing Christmas and other holiday parties for veterans. In recognition of her dedication, she received an award from the State of Florida Auxiliary Veterans Association.
Mary was known for her love of horses and for watching the Kentucky Derby, Preakness, Belmont Stakes, and Breeder’s Cup with Judy. She had a fondness for the color lavender, especially pens, and enjoyed traveling for horse shows and leisure to destinations including Texas, New York, Ireland, Illinois, Williamsburg, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Tennessee, California, Indiana, Las Vegas, and New Jersey to visit family and friends.
Among her many joys in life, besides her family and friends, were reading, playing darts, and giving quirky gifts and flowers. Mary was fiercely loyal to those she loved. She touched many hearts and will be deeply missed.
