Mary Mimbs

Mary Jane Mimbs, known for her generosity and servant's heart, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2025, in Bradenton, FL, just one day after her 92nd birthday. Born in Metter, GA, on May 27, 1933, to Leamon and Nannie (Bird) Brown, Mary Jane's life was a testament to her love for Jesus and her family.

Mary Jane graduated from Metter High School in 1950. During high school she was active in 4-H and F.H.A. She cultivated a love for typing, shorthand, and Business Math.
On November 3, 1951, Mary Jane married the love of her life, George Elva Mimbs, in Lake Wales, FL. They made their home in Lake Wales, before moving to Parrish, FL, in 1965.

Mary Jane's career began at Waverly Citrus Growers in Lake Wales. Later in life she was secretary to the president at Manatee National Bank, Bradenton. She also ran the office of Aquaproof Roofing, and then Mimbs' Brothers Roofing in Bradenton.

Mary Jane is preceded in death by her husband, George Elva Mimbs. She is survived by her sons, Joey (Carol) Mimbs and Roy (Greer) Mimbs; her grandchildren, Lauren, Lyle, Leamon, Joel, Sarah, and Joshua (Megan); and her great-grandson, Wyatt, son of Leamon.

Throughout her life, Mary Jane served the churches she attended in various ministries including church secretary, children's Sunday school teacher, Awana worker, and choir member. At the time of her death, she was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Bradenton, FL, where she had served as a deaconess. She also served as a volunteer at Westminster Manor, Bradenton, where she lived later in life.

Her celebration of life will be held at Bethel Baptist Church, Bradenton, on Saturday, June 14. It will begin with a reception for friends and family at 2 pm, followed by a worship service at 3 pm. The family requests no flowers because Mary Jane did not enjoy cut flowers. Donations in her honor can be given for the new Ministry Center at Bethel Baptist Church, which will house a food pantry as well as medical, legal, and counseling services.
