Mary Anne Purdy, 83, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 28, 2024. Born on November 5, 1940, in the Bronx, New York, Mary Anne was a proud graduate of Cathedral High School. She lovingly raised her family in Queens and, after retiring, enjoyed many wonderful years in Fawn Lake Forest, Pennsylvania, before settling in Spanish Lakes and later Sarasota, Florida.
She was a beacon of wisdom, determination, and unwavering faith, whose presence brought joy to everyone around her. Her interests were many and varied, including tennis, golf, crocheting, singing, dancing, icon painting, and spending cherished moments with friends. A cancer survivor, she made the most of life and was also an enthusiastic member of the Red Hat Ladies organization. She especially loved spending time sharing recipes and playing games with her grandchildren and loved ones. She has been lovingly described as the perfect grandma. Mary Anne's love for animals and her ability to make friends with everyone she met were truly special.
She was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband Gil, her son Kevin, and her siblings Michael and Alice. She is survived by her daughters Karen (Ash), Mary (Gino), and her chosen daughter Deanna; her siblings Elizabeth, Margaret, John, Richard, Dennis, PJ, and Billy; her siblings-in-love; and her grandchildren Dan, Mark, Christy (Nick), Miray (Jacob), and Nicolina.
Mary Anne will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Her warmth, kindness, and radiant spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
