Staff Report
BRADENTON — Mayor Gene Brown and his staff will participate in a public forum hosted by the Manatee Democratic Environmental Caucus to address ongoing sewage spills and infrastructure challenges to Bradenton’s water systems.
The event will take place on Wednesday, March 26, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the Bradenton Woman’s Club. The forum will include a Q&A session where residents can ask Mayor Brown about the city’s response to the repeated sewage spills that have impacted Bradenton’s waterways, public health, and local economy. The discussion will also cover the city’s plans to update the infrastructure.
This issue crosses all party lines—clean water is something we all depend on,” said Ruth Lawler, Chair of the Manatee Democratic Environmental Caucus. “We’re eager to hear directly from Mayor Brown about the steps the city is taking to prevent future sewage spills and improve our water systems.”
In addition to the discussion, the event will allow attendees to sign the Florida Right to Clean Water petition. This citizen-led initiative seeks to establish clean and healthy waters as a fundamental right in the Florida Constitution and hold polluters accountable. WTF
Years of poor planning and poor maintenance of the sewer system resulted in this catastrophic events taking place. They have known about this problem for years probably decades. Now they wanna borrow 25 million from the counties federal funds that they received because of their poor vision and maintenance policy.
They have no problem, rubber, stamping, multimillion dollar, high-rise condos for a larger tax base revenue and selling off their price possession of City Hall at a fraction of its real replacement value. This is the City Of Bradenton’s leadership and vision.
