MCAT's "Ride For Less" Day Collects More Than a Quarter Ton of Food For Charity

MANATEE--Last Wednesday's MCAT "Ride For Less" promotion brought in more than 600 pounds of food and toys from passengers who were given free 24-hour bus passes for that day in exchange for their donation.

MCAT Director Ralf Heseler said, "Operationally it went smoothly. The public was very supportive of it." Mr. Heseler said MCAT will plan on informing the public earlier next year to give them more time to plan for the event.

All of the donated food and toys will be distributed to charities and food banks within Manatee County.
