MCSO Deputy and Employee of the Month

BRADENTON -- In January, Deputy Richard Kelleher was at a restaurant in Cocoa Beach with his family when he observed a woman who appeared to be choking. Without hesitation, he approached the woman and determined that she could not breathe. Deputy Kelleher took quick action to perform the Heimlich maneuver and dislodge a piece of food from her airway.

His quick and proper actions averted a serious incident, for which Deputy Richard Kelleher is awarded the MCSO Deputy of the Month for March 2013.

On March 2nd, 2013, Corey Zornes received a phone call from a disabled man saying that his electric wheelchair had broken down, he missed his bus and had no money. He researched and called a taxi service that transports wheelchairs, but they were unable to help. While a deputy was enroute to meet the man, Corey called a friend who drives a tow truck. He explained the situation and asked him to respond to the location and transport the wheelchair to the man’s home. In addition, Corey paid the $35 fee out of his own pocket so that man wouldn’t be stranded.

For his act of kindness, compassion and generosity to assist someone in need, Corey Zornes is awarded Employee of the Month for March 2013.
