BRADENTON –  After driving through an area in which a 911 call was placed by a concerned citizen, Deputy Monty Staley was able to stop a burglary within minutes of hearing Dispatch's description of the event taking place. Through quick action, Lisa Christian assisted an elderly citizen by summoning EMS after discovering her to be unresponsive upon arriving outside her home. They are the Manatee County Sheriff Office's Deputy and Employee of the Month.

From MCSO:

On May 28, 2013 Deputy Monty Staley was driving through an area in which a 911 call was placed when a citizen became suspicious of someone knocking at the front door of the house. More details reported by the victim stated that the suspect was then seen at the back of the house breaking into the home. Deputy Staley carefully listened to the description provided to Dispatch by the victim and in minutes was able to locate and detain the suspect until the first zone unit arrived. The victim was able to positively identify the suspect who was then arrested.

His knowledge of agency zones and ability to scan radio groups to offer his invaluable assistance made a difference on this day. For his expertise and rapid response Deputy Monty Staley is awarded Deputy of the Month for November 2013.

On November 8, 2013 Lisa Christian obtained injunction paperwork from the Clerk’s Office to be delivered to an elderly crime victim. When Lisa arrived at the victim’s home she knocked on the door with no answer which concerned her because the victim had advised her earlier that she did not have a vehicle and did not go out much due to poor health. Lisa tried knocking on the door again and called out to the victim through an open front window when she heard someone moaning in distress. Lisa then entered the residence and found the elderly victim wilting down in a chair at the table unresponsive and called 911. EMS arrived shortly after her call and assisted the elderly victim who was then transported to the hospital.

The outcome of this incident would not have been the same without her perseverance. For her prompt response Lisa Christian is awarded Employee of the Month for November 2013.
