Bradenton, Florida - Melvin Paul Shullick, 87, a beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024 at his home surrounded by family.
Mel was born in Perryopolis, Pennsylvania to parents of Michael Shullick and Anna (nee Barto) Shullick on April 20, 1936. He grew up in Lorain, Ohio and graduated from Lorain High School in 1954. He served in the army from 1955-1957 and was stationed in Germany. Upon his return he became a police officer for 10 years for the City of Lorain, then a business manager for 10 years, and finished his career at Ford Motor Company in Avon Lake, Ohio for 20 years. They moved to Bradenton, Florida in 2004 to enjoy retirement. His commitment and hard work in everything he did were evident to all that knew him.
Beyond his professional life, his most enjoyable moments came with his family. Mel and his wife, Karen enjoyed traveling and were fortunate to travel all over the world and particularly enjoyed their trips to the Galapagos Islands and Normandy, France. His hobbies included snowmobiling and boating and he enjoyed doing crossword puzzles in his down time. He was an avid golfer known as "Down the Middle Mel" and a devoted member of St Andrew United Church of Christ.
Mel is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Karen Shullick; children, Tony Shullick, Paul Shullick, Shona Taylor and Kim Haskins (husband, Chris); grandchildren, Cheryl Shullick, Cassidy and Carson Taylor, CJ and Gabbi Haskins; brothers, Danny and David Shullick. Other people prominent in is life were David Shullick Jr, Justin Shullick, Melissa Elliott and Ryan Saran.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents as well as his brothers, Charlie and George Shullick and his sister, Josephine (Shullick) Butchko.
There will be a private family viewing and burial at the Sarasota National Cemetery on Thursday, March 28, 2024.

Mel Shullick will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of service, humor, and love for his family will forever be cherished and remembered. May he rest in peace.
