PORT ST LUCIE, FL – The Marauders (30-44, 4-2) stranded 12 men on base, falling 4-0 in the series finale against the Mets at Tradition Field. Eric Avila went 2-for-4 at the plate for the Marauders.

St. Lucie starter Rainy Lara (W, 2-2) struck out eight and walked two over 5 2/3 innings. He struck out Dan Gamache three times and retired Willy Garcia three times, twice with strikeouts. Garcia went 6-for-6Mondaynight and even after going 0-for-4on Tuesdayhe finished the series 8-for-14.
The Mets came out of the gate swinging, tagging Matt Benedict (L, 0-8) for three first inning runs, one of which was unearned. Benedict settled in and did not allow another run over six innings. Zack Von Rosenberg allowed one run in two innings of relief.
The only Marauder runner to reach third came in the seventh inning when reliever Bret Mitchell walked the bases loaded with two outs. Hamilton Bennett entered and struck out Garcia to end the inning. Bennett pitched the eighth and ninth for his sixth save.
The Marauders begin a three-game series at Charlotte on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Tampa Bay Rays ace David Price will start for the Stone Crabs in his second rehab appearance. The game will be broadcast on www.BradentonMarauders.com.
