February 24, 1958 - September 18, 2023

On Monday, September 18, Michael (Mike) G. Loscalzo departed this earth and embarked on his last trip. His beloved wife and lifelong travel partner Donna held his hand until his final boarding call - "On a steel horse I ride."

Mike was born on February 24, 1958, to Gloria E. (Burke) and Michael P. Loscalzo and grew up in Elmwood Park, New Jersey. Mike graduated from Johnson & Wales University with a degree in business and began a career in the shipping and transportation industry. It was through his storied career that his life unfurled before him and took flight. Mike met the love of his life, Donna, through work, and the loving pair married on October 22, 1983.

Mike's 30-year career at Hoyer Global took him and his family on an adventure that spanned multiple continents and cultures. Mike imparted a sense of wonder about the world and left an indelible mark on the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing him. He had a deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures, but especially enjoyed a delicious meal, a perfect beach day, a great song, or a smooth sip of Johnny Walker Red.

In his many roles - son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, friend, and colleague - Mike shone brightly. Mike particularly relished his role as a grandfather, or 'Papa Donna' as his grandson Archer adoringly called him. Mike was magnetic and kind, he had a wonderful sense of humor, and his generosity knew no bounds.

Mike is survived by his loving wife Donna Loscalzo and their three children, Alexandra Valdez and her husband Robert Valdez II, Michael J. Loscalzo and his partner Sophie Lynch, and Gabrielle Sayward and her husband Zachary Sayward, his grandson, Archer Valdez, his mother Gloria Loscalzo, his sister Mary Beth Viviani and her husband John Viviani, and numerous family members, friends, and colleagues from across the world. Mike is preceded in death by his father, Michael P. Loscalzo and his aunt, Caroline (Aunt Lee) Loscalzo. Mike leaves behind a legacy of adventure, love, and excellence that will forever inspire those he has left behind - "put that in your book."

A funeral Mass to honor and celebrate Mike's life will be held on Monday, October 9 at 11:00 a.m. at St Mary Star of the Sea Church, at 4280 Gulf of Mexico Dr, Longboat Key, FL, 34228. All are welcome to join this special farewell and can opt to wear blue, Mike's favorite color. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Muscular Dystrophy Association or the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
