Michael P. Coleman

Michael P. Coleman, of Palmetto, Florida, passed away, November 16, 2024. He was born in Tampa, Florida on May 3, 1942. As a young boy he lived briefly with his parents and siblings in Temple Terrace and Georgetown, Cayman Islands. Mike is survived by his wife, Sylvia: his sister, Bunny Garst; sons, Brian and Chris; 2 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Early in life, he felt the calling to the priesthood and attended St. Joseph College, but he ultimately joined the Air Force in 1964 and was stationed in Wethersfield Airfield as a photography specialist and then as a Warehouse Inventory Specialist with the 52nd Combat Support Group. While stationed in England, he met the love of his life Sylvia Wetherill who he married in December 1967. After leaving the Air Force, he went on to study Behavioral Science, obtaining a BA at Mercy University in 1975. He was former Regional Account Exec of the Specialty Market Division at General Foods Corp for many years, retiring in 1986 and moving from Fishkill, NY to Florida. He and his wife purchased Aquatel Resort where they raised their two boys. Military funeral honors will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72 (Clark Road), Sarasota, FL on January 17, 2025 at 2:00 pm.
