FORT MYERS – The Miracle (15-10) broke open a close game with four unearned runs in the eighth inning to secure a 7-1 win over the Marauders (14-11) and sole possession of first place in the Florida State League South Division. Jason Creasy started the game for Bradenton and did not factor in the decision. Creasy tossed five innings and allowed one run on four hits while striking out four.
Bradenton scored first in the game, managing its only run in the second innings. Jordan Steranka led off with a triple off Matt Tomshaw and scored when Eric Wood managed an RBI-groundout. The Marauders put a runner on in seven of the nine innings but did not score again. Tomshaw pitched four innings and struck out four.
Fort Myers evened the score in the third against Creasy. Travis Harrison doubled with one out and Dalton Hicks brought home the equalizer with a two-out single. That was the lone run Creasy surrendered.
Thomas Harlan (L, 0-1) surrendered a leadoff single to Hicks in the sixth. Niko Goodrum walked with one out. The next batter was Aderling Mejia, recently back from Double-A New Britain. Mejia roped a double to left to put the Miracle on top for good. Both runners scored on the double to give Fort Myers a 3-1 lead. Harlan finished the game on the hill for Bradenton.
Max Moroff went 2-for-4 with a double for Bradenton. Walker Gourley had a pair of singles in four at-bats.
