Movers and Shakers: Kirk Pinkerton Law Firm Announces New Shareholder

SARASOTA – The law firm of Kirk-Pinkerton, P.A., announces that Stephen Mathew (Matt) Whyte has joined the firm as a Shareholder.

Mr. Whyte received his B.S. in Business Administration, magna cum laude and with University Honors, from the University of Central Florida and his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, and M.B.A. from Stetson University. 

Mr. Whyte has been Board Certified in Criminal Trial Law by the Florida Bar since 2007, a distinction shared by only 385 of the 98,217 lawyers licensed in Florida. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Whyte served as an Assistant State Attorney in Manatee and Sarasota counties. Before joining Kirk Pinkerton, Mr. Whyte represented insurance companies and was a partner in a Bradenton law firm where he practiced criminal defense and personal injury law. At Kirk Pinkerton, Mr. Whyte continues his practice in criminal defense, personal injury and civil litigation.

Mr. Whyte is active in many civic organizations, including the Manatee Area Youth Soccer Organization, Leadership Manatee (Class of 2013-14), the Judge John M. Scheb American Inn of Court, the Manatee County Chamber of Commerce (Better Business Council member), Tiger Bay of Manatee, and the Manatee and Sarasota County Bar Associations.

Outside of work, Mr. Whyte is a Life Member of the National Rifle Association and was named a “Top Brass” volunteer by the Friends of the NRA in 2013. Mr. Whyte is Certified by the NRA as an instructor for Basic Pistol, Refuse to be a Victim, Personal Protection in the Home, and Personal Protection Outside the Home. Mr. Whyte is also a Certified Glock Armorer.  Mr. Whyte has lectured around the State of Florida on self defense and use of force issues, accident reconstruction, and litigation related matters.
