BRADENTON – The Florida Council for Community Mental Health (FCCMH) annually awards three top staff within its community behavioral health member agencies.

This year’s winners include Manatee Glens’ Supervising Psychologist Robert Boxley, Ph.D. for the award of Administrator/ Supervisor of the Year.

Robert Boxley, Ph.D. is a supervising psychologist. He is a prolific writer and frequent presenter at professional conferences. With more than 25 years of clinical experience in individual, couple, family and group therapy he brings an expertise that is not easily found in community behavioral health. His specialization in psychological testing, depression/anxiety, autistic spectrum disorders, child/adolescent counseling, residential/school-based care and substance abuse provides a deep understanding of the treatment needs of individuals receiving care at Manatee Glens.

Dr. Boxley's commitment to the field goes much deeper than his direct service. Annually, he supervises eight Psy.D. practicum students and is vital in training 190 other clinical workers. He also supervises clinicians in local schools. This helps fill Florida’s dire need for psychiatrists, especially in community mental health. Dr. Boxley led the creation of the Lake Erie College of Medicine/Manatee Glens Hospital Psychiatry Residency program, one of only seven such programs in the country and the first private, non-profit psychiatric hospital that has its own medical residency program.
