Movers and Shakers: The Resort at Longboat Key Club Receives AAA Four-Diamond Award for 30th Consecutive Year

LONGBOAT KEY – The Resort at Longboat Key Club has passed another milestone – one to most certainly be proud of. For the 30th consecutive year the Resort is the recipient of the prestigious AAA Four-Diamond Award. The luxury, full-service, beach-front Resort has been honored with this distinction since 1983, one year after its opening.

Located on the barrier island of Longboat Key just off the coast of Sarasota, Florida, it is one of only six lodgings in the State of Florida to have received this award for 30 or more consecutive years. Collectively, AAA Four Diamond establishments represent just 3.9%of the current 59,000 AAA/AAC Approved and Diamond rated establishments. Florida claims the second highest number of AAA Four-Diamond lodgings at 132, with California claiming the number one spot at 180.

Continuing a 77th year tradition AAA professionally trained inspectors use published guidelines to conduct unannounced hotel and restaurant evaluations, assigning ratings of One to Five AAA Diamonds. The AAA rating system has served as a trusted guide to travelers throughout the United States, Canada and the Caribbean as the premier source for lodging recommendations and ratings.

“We are thrilled to achieve this outstanding milestone of 30 consecutive years as an AAA Four-Diamond Resort. With such a tradition to uphold we are challenged every day to perform to our very highest standards and consistently deliver superior service and experiences for our guests. We have seen generations of families that come to enjoy their vacations here year after year and we welcome the new guests that search out this venue of distinction,” said Jeff Mayers, General Manager of The Resort at Longboat Key Club. “To be one of only six lodgings in the State of Florida to attain this recognition speaks to our elegant amenities and exclusive location that continues to set the standard for luxury resorts. Furthermore, this accomplishment would not have been possible without the support of the owners. In addition, the staff’s commitment to providing the service levels that continuously have a positive impact upon our guests is truly appreciated.”

No stranger to awards, The Resort at Longboat Key Club has been recognized as Tennis Magazine’s #1 Tennis Resort on the Gulf Coast of Florida; a “Top 25 Gold Medal Tennis Resort, Worldwide” by Tennis Resorts Online; a “USTA Outstanding Facility of the Year”, 2009 and a ”Best Places to Play” by Golf Digest.
