Movers and Shakers: Wanda K. Read-Burke Joins Manatee County Big Brothers Big Sister of the Sun Coast

BRADENTON – Wanda K. Read-Burke has joined the team at the Manatee Office of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast as the Community Resource Director. Among her responsibilities, she will be actively recruiting volunteers to serve as Big Brothers or Big Sisters, event planning, developing community partnerships and fundraising. 

Prior to joining Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast, Wanda served as Community Relations Representative for One blood, our community blood center, for the last 11 years. She has extensive knowledge of our community and will bring a renewed excitement to our Manatee office. A Manatee Leadership graduate, she serves as the Governors Appointee for the Early Learning Coalition of Manatee Board, served on various event committees, and has many established relationships which will excel the BBBS mission.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast provides one-to-one mentoring relationships to children ages 6-18 years old throughout the Gulf Coast of Florida in Sarasota, Manatee, DeSoto, Highlands, Hardee, Charlotte, Lee, Collier, Glades and Hendry counties. Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast holds itself accountable for children in its program to achieve measurable outcomes, such as educational success; avoidance of risky behaviors; and higher aspirations, greater confidence and better relationships.
