MPO seeking Citizens Advisory Committee applicant

If you're interested in transportation issues, there may be a place for you at the table.

Applications are now being accepted for one seat on the Sarasota-Manatee Metropolitan Planning Organization Citizen Advisory Committee, which makes recommendations to the MPO on transportation planning issues and needs.

The voluntary advisory board, comprised of 27 Manatee and Sarasota residents, provides input to the transportation planning process that reflects citizens' views and attitudes. The vacant position is a three-year term.

CAC members represent a general cross-section of the citizens of the two counties, including the cities within the counties. CAC representatives are recommended for appointment by their respective units of local government and are appointed by the MPO board.

Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. at the MPO offices, Airport Commerce Center, 7632 15th St. E. Sarasota. Applications are due by Dec. 22, and can be found at the Web site or by calling (941) 745-3700, Ext. 3707. Minorities and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
