Murrie Bumpers

Murrie Lee Coleman Bumpers, known to many as "Babysister,", was born November 14, 1944 in Mobile, Alabama, to the late Willie Sr. and Geneva Coleman.

As a child she believed in Christ, and was baptized at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church. She married the late Richard Bumpbers Sr., and had three children. She was an active member of the Civil Rights Movement in Alabama.

In later years she resided in Reston, Virginia, where she was employed at Lockheed Martin. In retirement she decided to make Bradenton, Florida her home. She joined First Baptist Church Palmetto and also attended Bible Study Fellowship. She was passionate about her faith and impacted the
lives of many, beginning in her family.

Throughout her life Murrie loved people, and was loved in return. She enjoyed time spent with family and friends, traveling, fishing, and having seafood at Red Lobster.

Murrie is survived by her brother, Willie Freed Coleman (Hazel); her three children, Cassandra Campbell (William), Richard Bumpers Jr. (Maxine), Romey Bumpers (Martina); and Tonya Sylvester, whom she raised as her own; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The visitation will be at Lovett's Funeral Chapel at 1130 am on October21, 2024 followed by a Graveside service at Lawn Haven Cemetery.
