Norman “Norm” MacKenzie, age 87, of Holmes Beach, Florida, formerly of Bay City, Michigan, passed away on April 15, 2026.
He was born June 30, 1938, in Bay City to Charles and Bernadette (Pettigrew) MacKenzie. He graduated from T.L. Handy High School in 1956 and married the love of his life, Janenne Garrison, on June 8, 1957.
A proud United States Army veteran, Norm owned and operated Millar’s Appliance and Millar’s Tire in Bay City for over 50 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Elks Club, and Royal Order of the Moose, celebrating 70 years of membership. He was also a longtime parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
Norm and Janenne retired to Holmes Beach, Florida, in the early 1990s, where he remained active in the Moose Lodge and became a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. He enjoyed golfing, shooting pool, and spending time with friends.
Above all, Norm loved his family and was known for his generosity and willingness to help others.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Barb Begley; his daughter, Jill Benner; and his grandson, Stephen Benner.
He is survived by his wife, Janenne (Garrison) MacKenzie; his children, Scott MacKenzie (Jody Royal), Renee (Patrick) McEvoy, and Kim MacKenzie (Cory Rosengard); his brother, Keith (Penny) MacKenzie; eleven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Bernard Catholic Church, 248 South Harbor Drive, Holmes Beach, Florida 34217. A celebration of life is being planned, with details to follow.
