Old Main Street tree lighting gets a refresh

The lights wrapped around the oak trees along Main Street have become a familiar part of downtown Bradenton, glowing year-round. The City’s Downtown Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) is beginning a refresh of the lighting that will also include care for the trees themselves.

The existing lights were repaired following the 2024 storms to keep them working, but will soon be removed for replacement. As the old lights come down, the staples will be carefully removed and the small holes treated to help protect the trees from moisture and pests. The trees will also be professionally pruned to support growth before the new lighting is installed.

Once installed, the new lights will be placed on an annual maintenance schedule to keep them in good condition and Main Street glowing throughout the year.

The project is funded through the Downtown CRA, which uses dedicated redevelopment funds for projects and improvements within the downtown redevelopment area.
