MANATEE COUNTY – Sarasota-Manatee Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and Manatee County Area Transit will participate in an open house next week to discuss with the public the possibility of an MCAT route to Lakewood Ranch.
The Lakewood Ranch Transit Study Open House will be held on Monday, Aug. 12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Manatee County Central Library, 1301 Barcarrota Boulevard W., Bradenton. The library is accessible by MCAT Route 3.
Members of the public are encouraged to attend this open house public workshop to provide input. Staff will be available at the workshop to provide information, answer questions and take comments.
The MPO is conducting the study to develop a set of potential transit route options to and from Lakewood Ranch in an effort to provide Manatee and Sarasota county residents transit access to the rapidly developing area.
Project consultant Tindale Oliver is conducting the study and polled Lakewood Ranch residents on the potential route this summer. Tindale Oliver has also met or will be meeting with representatives from Schroeder Manatee Ranch, Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM), the How Will We Grow project, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center and others to get a better idea of the traveling needs of employees and students who travel to Lakewood Ranch for work or school.
