Palm Beach Crushes Bradenton 9-3

BRADENTON – The Palm Beach Cardinals (34-31) defeated the Marauders (33-31) 9-3 on Tuesday night at McKechnie Field. The Cardinals have now won eight straight games, while the Maraud ers’ three-game winning streak was snapped.

Cardinals All-Star center fielder Charlie Tilson led off the game with a solo home run, and Palm Beach never trailed in the game. The Cardinals banged out 15 hits against Orlando Castro (L, 3-4), Ryan Hafner, and Josh Smith. David Washington and Ildemaro Vargas also hit home runs for the Cardinals.

Jonathan Schwind crushed his third home run of the season in the first inning against Kyle Helisek (W, 4-2). Helisek went on to throw seven innings while allowing three hits and two runs while striking out five.

Josh Bell hit his seventh home run of the season on the first pitch of the ninth inning.

The teams play again on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
