Palmetto City Commission Meeting Agenda Results: 4/21/2014

PALMETTO -- At Monday's meeting, members voted to go forward with a general description plan for the new Palmetto Police Department headquarters and also voted to put the city's waste contract out for bid in an RFP. In other business, commissioners voted to continue the moratorium on internet cafes; continued a vote until May 19 for Ordinance 2013-20, regulating outdoor vending machines; and approved a preliminary plan for a six-family dwelling development on 11th Street in Palmetto.

Chief Wells -- Wanted to thank the Mayor and staff for the attention given to the presentation on building the new police station.

 

City Clerk,  Jim Freeman -- Supervisor of elections wants us to circulate flyers for voting by mail.

 

13.  MAYOR’S REPORT -- Mayor Bryant wanted to to let everyone to know there is a lot on the government's plate in the near future.

 

14.  COMMISSIONERS’ COMMENTS -- 

Brian Williams -- Wants to follow the story on the injection wells that are proposed for up near the Port. 

 

Tambra Vandavore -- Said she would like for the commission to look into community gardens because so many people are asking and growing some of their own food. Vandavore said it was a hobby of hers.

Charles Smith -- said the Mayor and the Chief were doing a wonderful job, and gets calls sharing that same sentiment all the time
