Palmetto Recevies Energy Grant

PALMETTO -- The City of Palmetto has been selected to receive funding in the amount of 249,837 for the City of Palmetto Energy Initiatives through a Florida Energy and Climate Commission Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant.

The initiatives include proposed upgrades to the wastewater collection and treatment facilities, development of an energy conservation strategy, consolidation of IT servers, and retrofits for city owned buildings.

The grant application was submitted in February 2010. All funds must be expended by April 2012. These initiatives will result in significant energy reduction for the city that will continue for years to come.
