SARASOTA – On Sunday, March 2, over 500 riders participated in the Pedal for Pups - Ride to the Rescue event to support Nate's Honor Animal Rescue. The event, which departed from Regatta Island at Nathan Benderson Park, was an enormous success, netting more than $33,000 for the rescue dogs and cats at Nate's.

There were 20, 40 and 70 mile courses with full SAG support and fully stocked rest stops, in addition to a children's ride around the rowing facility. The event reported 548 registered riders, not counting support riders. Beer and BBQ were provided to participants after the ride.

Nate’s Honor Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization with operations in Manatee and Sarasota Counties. Staffed 99 percent by volunteers, they provide rescued dogs and cats with a safe NO-KILL sheltered environment while they wait to be adopted.

Their stated mission is "To save the lives of homeless pets by changing the way our community views animal sheltering and shelter pets. To provide an educational and family friendly environment that will change their future one animal, one family, and one generation at a time."
