Port Authority Meets Thursday; Port Offers Free Tours Beginning October 29th

MANATEE COUNTY -- The Manatee County Port Authority will hold its monthly meeting Thursday beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Intermodal Center in Port Manatee. Items on the agenda to be discussed include the RFQ Advisor Contract which was narrowed down to two finalists at the September 20 meeting.

The Port Manatee rack installation and warehouse upgrade, which was approved at the last meeting, will be discussed further, as well as the 2010 Commercial paper loan and other open Port Authority matters. 

The port also announced it is accepting reservations for free one-hour tours for groups and individuals. Open-air tram tours begin at 10 a.m. every Monday and Wednesday from Oct. 27 through May 11, 2011. Each tour goes through the developed property of the port, with descriptions of the many businesses located at Port Manatee.


Security protocols require reservations at least one week in advance. Groups are limited to 75, with all reservations accepted on a first-come, first served basis. Groups of five or fewer can book tours through a new online reservation system on the Port's website.

When making reservations, participants must provide date of birth, email address and contact information for each person in their group. Photo identification is required at check-in.
