BRADENTON -- Thursday evening's Manatee County Public Budget Hearing was over just moments after it started. The FY 2015 recommendations flew in one window and out the other without any questions or comments as to just what the residents of Manatee County were getting for their half billion dollar plus annual budget.
As always, the millage rate is the number to focus on, which is recommended to stay the same as it has been since 2008.
The administration's recommendations are to keep the millage rate at 6.2993 in municipalities and 6.9102 in the unincorporated areas of Manatee County.

The estimated Taxable Property Value is $25.8 billion (July 1, 2014 value), a significant increase from what had been projected.
The largest part of the $527 million dollar pie is Charges for Services, coming in at $185 million with Property Tax revenue coming in a close second at $169 million.
County staff will also stay the same at 1,677 county employees.

The next regular BOCC meeting is scheduled for this coming Tuesday, June 17, 2014. It is the last before the summer recess.
