RaceTrac store, Silverleaf on agenda for land use meeting

Posted

BRADENTON - A controversial plan to build a gas station and convenience store at the northeast corner of North Tamiami Trail and Pearl Avenue, and a development in the suburbs, are among the topics to be discussed at Thursday's Land Use meeting.

The meeting begins at 9 a.m. in the County Commission chambers.

A presentation is scheduled on the proposed RaceTrac station at 7259 N. Tamiami Trail (PDC-09-07(P)), which has raised some concerns in the community surrounding that area. That hearing was continued from July 28.

A large number of letters have been received against the convenience store/gas station, with residents of nearby communities saying it would bring traffic, crime and prostitution to their communities. A few letters were in favor of the store.

A presentation on the Silverleaf development at Old Tampa Road and Chin Road (PDR-05-60(Z)(P)) would rezone more than 263 acres and provide a site plan with 621 single-family homes. That hearing was continued from June 4 and June 23.

The agenda for the meeting is at the county's Web site.
