Ramp closures and detours to affect U.S. 301 interchange

Get ready to deal with more routing changes as road work continues on I-75's ramps and on I-275, too.

The Florida Department of Transportation released a new list of closures starting Wednesday, Oct. 21, that will affect traffic on I-75 from Kay Road to Mendoza Road.

The construction project consists of milling and resurfacing the roadway, shoulder treatment, guardrail, traffic monitoring, signing, pavement marking and signalization. To complete these improvements, ramp closures at these interchanges will be necessary. Detours will be established at these two interstate interchanges. Weather permitting, ramp closures are scheduled to occur on Wednesday, Oct. 21, Monday, Oct. 26, and Tuesday, October 27, from 11 p.m. each night and will last until 5 a.m. each morning. Weather conditions prohibiting operations would include rain and cold temperatures.

 

On Oct. 21 beginning at 11 p.m., the northbound I-75 exit ramp to U.S. 301 toward Ellenton will be closed. Motorists on northbound I-75 wishing to exit on to U.S. 301 are advised to continue traveling north to Exit 229 at Moccasin Wallow Road, travel west and follow signage to southbound I-75 to Exit 224 at U.S. 301.

Also, the northbound entrance ramp at U.S. 301 will be closed. Motorists on U.S. 301 wishing to enter I-75 traveling northbound are advised to detour south to Exit 220 at State Road 64, travel east and follow signage to northbound I-75.

On Sunday, Oct. 25, beginning at 11 p.m., the northbound I-75 entrance ramp at U.S. 301 will be closed. Motorists on U.S. 301 wishing to enter I-75 traveling northbound are advised to detour south to Exit 220 at State Road 64, travel east and follow signage to northbound I-75.

On Monday, Oct. 26, beginning at 11 p.m., the southbound I-75 exit ramp to U.S. 301 toward Ellenton will be closed. Motorists on southbound I-75 wishing to travel on U.S. 301 are advised to use Exit 229 at Moccasin Wallow Road, travel east and follow signage on Moccasin Wallow Road to U.S. 301 south.

 

Also, the southbound entrance ramp at U.S. 301 will be closed. Motorists on U.S. 301 wishing to enter I-75 traveling southbound are advised to travel northbound on I-75 to Exit 229 at Moccasin Wallow Road, travel west and follow signage to southbound I-75.

 

On Tuesday, Oct. 27, beginning at 11 p.m., the southbound I-75 exit ramp to U.S. 301 toward Ellenton will be closed. Motorists on southbound I-75 wishing to travel on U.S. 301 are advised to use Exit 229 at Moccasin Wallow Road, travel east and follow signage on Moccasin Wallow Road to U.S. 301 south.

 

I-75/I-275 work continues

Beginning at 11 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, to 5 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23, the northbound I-75 ramp at I-275 North (Exit 228) will be closed for bridge deck work.

 

Motorists in Manatee County traveling on northbound I-75 wishing to exit onto I-275 North (Exit 228) are advised to exit onto Moccasin Wallow Road (Exit 229), turn left on Moccasin Wallow Road, turn left onto southbound I-75 and proceed onto northbound (west) I-275 (Exit 228).
