Reels at Rossi to show 'Pirates' on outdoor screen

Posted

BRADENTON - Look out, the "Pirates" are coming to Bradenton.

The Downtown Development Authority's monthly movie in Rossi Park on Sept. 18 will be the 2003 film "Pirates of the Caribbean," starring Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom.

The movie will start at sunset on the three-story screen near the clock tower in Rossi Waterfront Park. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and find a comfortable spot to watch the movie, or park your boat in the Manatee River and watch from there.

The September Reels also comes with an added bonus. Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurant at 1608 Cortez Road is providing free chips and salsa for the first 100 people to show up. The Pittsburgh Pirates plan to bring a fast-pitch cage, and there will be giveaways for the children.

Public parking is available at the park, on the first two floors of the Promenade Parking Garage and throughout downtown. Rossi Park is located in downtown Bradenton on Third Avenue West between Ninth Street West and U.S. 301 at 808 Third Ave. W.

Next month's movie will be the classic thriller "Rear Window" on Oct. 16.
