Richard Hoffman, aka Dick, Dickie, Pops & Papa, age 86, passed away at home on April 7, 2025. He was born in Chicago to Sarah (Walsh) Hoffman before moving to Leland then to Ottawa.

Throughout his life, he was known for his unwavering dedication to his family and his ability to lend a hand wherever needed. Before retiring to Florida, he worked at Caterpillar and took on numerous side jobs. He also served in the US Navy as a cook. He was a loving husband to his wife, Julie, a supportive father to his children , Phil (Maribeth), Julie (Paul) Socket and Candy (Scott) Meluch, and a fun-loving grandpa to Andrew, Skylar, Lucas, Daniel, Cailei (Harley) and Brandon. His faithful dog, Sarge, was a significant part of his life, always his "sidekick".

He possessed a creative soul, evident in his hobbies that included meticulous house projects, pool maintenance, and crafting decorations that adorned their home. Dick was also a sports enthusiast, cheering for his favorite golf tournaments and never missing a Packers game, fully decked out in team gear. His life was marked by the love he received, especially spending the days with his wife, which was his biggest joy. This also came from his small circle of family and friends, including his brother-in-law Vince Pellegrini and numerous relatives who visited often.

He was preceded in death by his sons Richie and Wayne, his mother Sarah, his sister Joanne Pellegrini, and his brother Paul Hoffman. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no memorial services. Dick's life was a testament to the joy of giving, loving, and living fully with those around him. His legacy of kindness and dedication to his family will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
