Richard James Okerman Sr., 87, formerly of Lunenburg, Mass., who peacefully left us on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, while surrounded by loved ones at his home in Bradenton, Florida.

Richard, fondly known as Rich, was born on November 28, 1935, to Joel E. and Hilja (Riihilouma) Okerman. He grew up on the family farm in Lunenburg Massachusetts. Rich married his sweetheart and beloved wife, Annabel (Wilson) Okerman. Together the couple shared over 44 years of marriage and had two children, Richard Jr. ,and Robin.
Rich, his brothers & cousin, Ed had many adventures on the family farm. During Family Reunions everyone gathered around to hear the stories of their many adventures, and in some cases misadventures.

Rich's life was a testament to dedication, service, and laughter. He served with honor in the Marine Corps, was Past Master of Aurora Lodge, enjoyed singing with the Shrine Chanters, and served on the Palm Lake Estates Board of Directors, where he was recognized for his efforts.

Rich is survived by his children; Richard Okerman Jr., (Rick) and his wife, Jessica, and Robin Ruggiero and her husband, Anthony. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Okerman; along with 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; many nieces; and nephews. Rich was predeceased by two brothers; Raymond Okerman and Paul Okerman; three sisters; Ruth Robillard, Mildred St. Germaine, and Helen Lawrence; granddaughter, Gabriella Okerman and cousin: Edmund Lindsay.

Rich had an incredible gift of humor, which he generously shared with everyone around him. His quick wit and infectious laughter brightened any room. He had a unique ability to bring joy to those in his presence. Rich will be greatly missed by his children and grandchildren.

Rich's family will honor him at a private Graveside Service and Celebration of his Life.
