Road Closures on 301 in Sarasota

Posted

SARASOTA  -- One lane of U.S. 301 (Washington Boulevard) will be closed in both directions, between Myrtle Street and DeSoto Road, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. This closure will take place Sunday, May 9th, through Thursday, May 13th, while workers install temporary asphalt paving and striping in the median.

Once the temporary paving and striping is in place, traffic will be shifted in a gradual, incremental manner to temporary travel lanes. Motorists traveling in both directions will use the temporary lanes, while sidewalks and travel lanes are constructed along the west side of U.S. 301.

Driveways leading to businesses along U.S. 301 will be kept open and accessible to motorists at all times, while the sidewalks and travel lanes are being constructed.

Motorists are reminded to exercise extra caution while driving through this Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) construction zone, along the one-mile stretch of U.S. 301 from Myrtle Street to DeSoto Road.

The project connects with a 2.65-mile stretch of U.S. 301 between Myrtle Street and Wood Street that is also being upgraded under a separate FDOT contract.
