Robert Donald Glander "Bob" of Bradenton, FL and formerly of Venice FL and Atkinson NH passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024.
Bob was born to the late Herman and Hattie (Balling) Glander in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ where he resided during his childhood. After high school he attended Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ and graduated with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. He went on to have a long career in engineering and program management, working for well-known corporations such as Bendix Corporation early in his career, and Agfa- Gevaert.
After college, Bob met his wife of 68 years, Joan Kirwan of Rutherford, NJ, and they settled in Oakland, NJ to raise their family of five children. Bob's career brought the family to New England and Atkinson, NH where he resided for 34 years until retiring to Venice, FL.
Bob was a devoted husband and dedicated father, where he prioritized both over anything else in life. He was most content spending time at home, working in the yard, going out for nice dinners and lunches, and spending time with family and friends. He was active in the Atkinson Lions Club and the Venice Newcomer's Club and enjoyed coordinating events sponsored by each organization. He greeted everyone he met with a smile and was always up for a good laugh.
In addition to his wife Joan, Bob is survived by his son R. Michael and wife Tami (Jaeger), daughters Peggy (Glander) Ward and husband Patrick, Patricia (Glander) Whorf and husband Robert, Jennice (Glander) Mulwee and husband Scott, and daughter in law Shelby (Phillips) Glander. He ls also survived by grandchildren Robert Glander, Mark Glander and wife Jillian (Savastano), Briana (Glander) Hutton and husband Joseph, Kelly Glander and fiancé Jack Schonher, Benjamin Whorf, Jacob Whorf, Kaelyn Mulwee, Andrew Mulwee, step grandchildren Casey Ward, Craig Ward and wife Siobhan (McCarthy), as well as three great grandchildren. Bob was predeceased by his son, Kenneth Glander.
Memorial Services will be private to the family, and interment will be held on a later date in Atkinson, NH. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Tidewell Hospice of Southwest Florida.
