Robert W. Hughes, 73, a long-time resident of Bradenton, Florid, passed away Saturday, May 25,2024, surrounded by his family and close friends. Bob was born on September 17, 1950, in Bellaire, Ohio to the late Robert and Margaret Hughes.
He was employed by GTE/Verizon as an Equipment Tech and later as a Special Service Tech, until his retirement. Bob was very passionate about Church, Golfing with friends, and watching Ray's Baseball. Most mornings you could find him on his back porch watching the squirrels and birds eat from the many feeders he had.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jekita Hughes. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Michelle Hughes of Hampton, VA; granddaughter, Delaney Hughes of Acushnet, MA; stepdaughter and son in law, Charlie Bass and Jennifer Prime of Ellenton, FL; granddaughter and husband, Gary and Kristen Tyler of Sarasota, FL and great grandkids Annamae, Emma and Titan Tyler of Sarasota, FL; brother and sister-in-law, Bud and Kim Hughes of Wheeling, WV. Close family and friends, Kimble Prime, Bill and Donna Johnson, Mike and Naoe Streff, Tony and Kim Apollaro.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday June 8, 2024, 11 AM at South Trail Church of Christ, 5601 S Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34231. Following the service, we will have a light lunch where we can share stories and memories of a life well lived.
