Robert Lee Petty, known affectionately as Bob to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025, in Bradenton, Florida, at the age of 83. Born on January 3, 1942, in Media, Pennsylvania, Bob's early years were filled with the warmth of a close-knit community and the love of his family.
Bob graduated from Penncrest High School where he formed lifelong friendships and developed a strong sense of duty by joining the Army National Guard. Bob then embarked on a successful career in retail management holding senior positions at Landsburg's and Woodward and Lathrop in Washington, DC. His leadership and dedication to customer service were hallmarks of his professional life.
In his later years, Bob found joy and purpose in the sunny climate of Bradenton, Florida, where he became a reputable businessman. He owned and operated several successful business enterprises including USA Towing which served the community with integrity and compassion. Bob's business sense and commitment to his clients earned him admiration and respect in the Bradenton area.
Bob's passions extended beyond his professional endeavors. He was an avid fisherman who cherished the serenity of being out on the water in his boat. His love for landscaping transformed his home into a lush welcoming sanctuary, and his festive Christmas decorations were a delight to all. Above all, Bob was a man of the people. He had an open heart and an open door, always ready to lend a hand or an ear to anyone in need.
His selfless nature was evident in the way he lived his life, always placing the needs of others before his own. Bob's passion for life and gentle spirit touched the hearts of everyone he met. He was a source of strength and inspiration, believing that the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.
Bob is survived by two brothers, William Petty of Newtown, PA and Don Petty and sister-in-law Sue Petty of Rehoboth Beach, DE.
Though preceded by his brother Glenn Petty and Ann Petty of Venice, Florida, and sister-in-law Barbara Petty of Frenchtown, NJ, Bob's legacy continues through his nine nieces and nephews, who will all cherish the memories of their kind and loving uncle.
In remembrance of Bob, we celebrate a life lived with enthusiasm and generosity. His absence will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Bob's journey through life was one of purpose, joy, and an unwavering commitment to making the world a better place.
