Robert Reed Adelsperger, Reed to all who knew him, age 90 of Sarasota, Florida, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. Born July 8, 1935, in Richmond, Indiana, to E. Raymond and A. Lucille (Slick) Adelsperger. He was a 1953 graduate of Richmond Senior High School, where he was a member of the golf team, starting his lifelong love of the game of golf.

Following high school he started his career in banking with First National Bank of Richmond, Indiana. There he met his wife Clare of nearly 68 years. They married July 4, 1958. That date was chosen because he could get holiday leave from the Army before shipping off to Germany. Upon returning from his military service, he continued his banking career with First National Bank until 1979 when he moved to Connersville, Indiana and took a position with Fayette Bank and Trust Company where he ultimately became President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board.

In both Richmond and Connersville, Reed was an active member of numerous civic organizations such as The Jaycees, Rotary International, The Elks, Masonic lodges in both cities, Loyal Order of the Eastern Star, The Shriners, and People to People just to name a few. He and Clare were also active members of Forest Hills Country Club in Richmond, Indiana and Connersville Country Club in Connersville, Indiana. After retiring to Sarasota Florida, they were members of Laurel Oak Country Club where they enjoyed an active golfing life, travel, time with family, and numerous trips to his “Happy Place” Walt Disney World.

Reed is survived by his wife Clare (Dudas), daughter Debra (Don) Sieb of Sarasota, Florida; sons Doug (Cathy) Adelsperger of Wolcottville, Indiana; David Adelsperger of Fort Wayne, Indiana; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Also important in Reed’s family was his brother in law Jeff (Susan) Dudas and their extended family.

Reed’s family will have a private family viewing on Sunday June 28, 2026 in Sarasota, Florida with a celebration of his life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to a charity of your choice.
