It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald N. Stagg, Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather (GGpa), brother, uncle, and friend. Ron passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on January 14, 2025.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 72 years, Betty Jean Stagg; children Ronette Yarbrough (John), Ronald N. Stagg, Jr. (Elizabeth), Kathie Balch (Jim), and Nancy Agee (Carl); his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and sister Barbara Faurote. Ron is reunited in eternal peace with his parents, Lester Stagg and Anna Paffendorf, his siblings Lester and Dotty, and his grandson Eric.
Born on December 21, 1930, in Hackensack, New Jersey, Ron grew up in Hurley, New York, and graduated from Kingston High School in 1949. He worked in his father's asphalt company and met his future wife, Betty Jean Faurote, before being drafted into the Army in 1952. Ron hitchhiked home to Hurley, New York from Fort Benning, GA to propose to Betty. They married on September 28, 1952, in Hurley, New York, just before Ron was deployed to Korea.
Ron served in the 160th Field Artillery Battalion of the 45th Infantry Division and returned home on January 14, 1954. Together, Ron and Betty built a life in Kingston, New York, raising their four children and building their home from the ground up. In 1969, they relocated to Hollywood, Florida, where Ron worked various jobs, including, heavy equipment operation and carpentry. In 1974 they relocated to Bradenton, Florida and Ron worked 18 years with the Manatee County Recreation Department until retiring in 1993.
In 1994, Ron and Betty moved to Morton Village in Bradenton, Florida.
They were very active in their church and community, leading the Healing Rooms of Bradenton for many years.
Throughout his life, Ron pursued his enthusiasm for paddle ball, bowling and tennis, participating in the No Name Tennis Club and searching Goodwill for valuable finds.
Ron's life was a testament to love, family, great humor, and community. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by those who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life for Ronald N. Stagg, Sr. will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 2:00–5:00 PM, with a service at 3:00 PM at Bradenton Country Club: 4646 Ninth Ave W, Bradenton, FL 34209
A Committal Service with Military Honors for Ronald N. Stagg, Sr., will take place at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Sarasota National Cemetery: 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL 3424.

Almighty God, we rejoice in your promise of love, joy and peace. In your mercy turn the darkness of death into the dawn of new life, and the sorrow of parting into the joy of heaven; through our Saviour Jesus Christ, who died, rose again and lives for evermore. Amen.
