Sarasota company to help design electric bikes

Posted

Robrady Design, a company in Sarasota, has signed a deal to help design and develop a new line of folding electric bicycles.

The partner is DK City of Taiwan, a press release said, and the first in a series of concept bicycles will debut at the 2009 Eurobike show to a select group of people in September in Friedrichshafen, Germany. The teams are working on a public unveiling of the bike series later in the year.

DK City sought out Robrady after seeing its award-winning work on the electric Vectrix VX-1 Maxi Scooter and Super Bike, as well as its work on the design of many products for Segway.

Negotiations began in February of this year and were brought to fruition last week. Hans Huang, president of DK City, sees great potential in the relationship.

"With Robrady's fantastic design ability and our production capability as well as our established sales network, success is just around the corner," Huang said.

Robrady's CEO and design director, Robert Brady, said he feels that the two companies are "very complementary" and that the partnership will lead to many profitable products.

"Robrady will continue to strive in positioning DK City as a source for highly desired market-leading transportation products," he said.

DK City Corporation was founded in 1987 and is headquartered in Taichung, Taiwan, with an additional facility in Shanghai, China.

Robrady Design is a multi-disciplined product design and development studio in Sarasota.
