Posted

SARASOTA — Our regional restaurant week(s), Savor Sarasota, returns for its 20th season June 1 through June 20, giving foodies 20 full days to explore the area's stellar fine dining scene. Participating restaurants throughout Manatee and Sarasota counties offer specially created prix-fixe menus featuring two-course lunches for $25 and three-course dinners for $45 per person.

The event kicked off Monday with a special media preview at Michael's Wine Cellar. Michael’s On East, Duval’s, Tripletail Restaurant, The Westin EVOQ Pop’s Sunset Grill, Mattison’s, Farlow’s, Kolucan, The Café at St. Armands, Lefty’s Oyster & Seafood Bar, and Bridges @ The Embassy Suites dazzled food and wine critics with a wide array of creative food and cocktail offerings.

Highlights included Duval’s Scallops Ceviche; Citrus-Marinated with Red Onions, Fresno Chilies, Cilantro, and Watermelon;  Pop’s Sunset Grill's Almond and Walnut Crusted Hogfish topped with tomato, shaved parmesan, Casey Key lime butter, and green onions, served with coconut rice and garlic butter green beans;  The Café at St. Armands' Kefta Blended beef and lamb meatballs, saffron rice, pickled red onion, spicy feta and tzatziki; Bridges' Mediterranean flatbread, and Mattison’s Seared Halibut crispy yucca fritter, cuzco corn & avocado salad, Ndusia butter, braised rapini.

For the 20th anniversary celebration, Sarasota's most creative chefs have crafted appetizers, entrées, and desserts for diners to indulge their inner foodie. Many participating restaurants offer upgraded dishes to take dining experiences to the next level, along with signature cocktails and wine pairings.

"For twenty years, Savor Sarasota has brought people together around the table," said Erin Duggan,  President of Visit Sarasota County. "What started as a way to support our restaurants during the summer has grown into one of the most anticipated food events in the area. Our chefs continue to  inspire with their creativity and heart, and this celebratory season is the perfect time to experience  everything they bring to the table."

This year, diners can use Savor Sarasota Flavor Trail, a mobile-powered passport that helps them explore the participating restaurants and their prix-fixe menus. The free digital pass is delivered instantly via text and email, with no app to download. Diners can save the pass to their phone's home screen for easy access, check in at each restaurant, and enter to win exclusive Savor Sarasota swag.
