SCC Hosts Open House for Job Readiness Program

Posted

BRADENTON – Bridges to Careers, an innovation of CareerEdge, is a career readiness program, managed by Suncoast Community Capital, and designed to help members of our community who are unemployed gain the skills needed to obtain full-time employment or full-time schooling. This four-week training is free of charge and includes: classes from State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota in succeeding on the job and Microsoft computer skills.

Bridges also offers personal financial management classes, how to dress for success, interview preparation and resume help. Students take the Florida Ready to Work credential and work with mentors and a career coach who connect them with community resources and local employer partners.

Jessica Ruter, Bridges to Careers Program Director, said, “One of our recent graduates, Nick Anderson, went on to attend Manatee Technical Institute's Electrician program. He is on the National Honor Society and competing regionally in the Skills USA competitions. He will graduate this summer. Nick has made many positive changes in his life, thanks to Bridges to Careers. It is not too late for you to make a change too!”

The next class will start on May 12, 2014. For more information, please contact Suncoast Community Capital: 941-744-2666 or join them at their upcoming open house on Tuesday, April 29 from 4-6:00 p.m. at 302 Manatee Ave. East, Suite 303, in downtown Bradenton.
