SCF Athletics to Host Homecoming Weekend Jan. 17-19

MANATEE COUNTY — State College of Florida will host an athletics homecoming event this month, including the inaugural SCF Athletics Golf Classic, SCF alumni games in softball, baseball and basketball. The events will coincide with the schools 6th Hall of Fame induction ceremony, honoring outstanding athletes for the school. 

SCF Manatee-Sarasota will host the following athletics homecoming weekend events Jan. 17-19:

Inaugural  SCF Athletics Golf Classic

The inaugural SCF Athletics Golf Classic kicks off the weekend at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 17, at Bradenton Country Club, 4646 9th Ave. West. Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m. The classic includes a four-person scramble golf tournament with dinner following the event.

Participating in the golf tournament are alumni, parents, students and friends of the SCF athletics teams. The event is open to the public.

Registration is $125 per person; $470 for four people. Dinner is included. Sponsorship opportunities range from $100 to $3,000. Proceeds from the event will provide support to SCF Manatees athletics teams. Visit SCFManatees.com/Alumni for more information.

SCF Hall of Fame Induction

SCF will host the sixth annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony from 7 -9 p.m., Friday, Jan.18, in the Korcheck building. Inductees who will be honored at the ceremony include: former SCF softball player and current SCF Softball Coach Meredith Headings; former SCF baseball player and current SCF Assistant Baseball Coach David Moates; and former baseball players Glenn Davis and Robin Flake. Tickets are $35.


SCF Alumni Games

SCF alumni games are scheduled at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West:

·         10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 19, SCF Manatees Softball at the SCF Softball Field, located at 34th Street and 60th Avenue. Softball signing will follow the game.

·         2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 19, SCF Manatees Baseball at the Robert C. Wynn Field, located at 34th Street and 57th Avenue.

Admission to the baseball and softball alumni games is free.

SCF Basketball Throwback Game

SCF Basketball team members will wear Lancers jerseys during a game against Webber International University's Junior Varsity team, at 4 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 19, in the Hal Chasey Gymnasium at SCF Bradenton. At halftime, former MCC/MJC basketball players attending the game will be introduced. General admission is $4; $2 for children and seniors.
