SCF Celebrates Homecoming with Hall of Fame, Golf Tourney and Alumni Games

BRADENTON — The athletic department of State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota will host homecoming weekend events January 23-25, including a golf classic, Hall of Fame induction and alumni games. The Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place Friday, Jan. 24, 7 p.m. at IMG Academy Golf Club.

The second annual SCF Athletics Golf Classic kicks off the weekend at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at IMG Academy Golf Club, 4350 El Conquistador Pkwy., Bradenton. Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m. The classic includes a four-person scramble golf tournament with dinner following the event.

Participating in the golf tournament are alumni, parents, students and friends of SCF athletics teams. The event is open to the public. Registration is $125 a person and $470 for four people. Dinner is included. Sponsorship opportunities range from $100 to $3,000.

Proceeds from the event will provide support to SCF Manatees athletics teams. The deadline to purchase tickets and participate in sponsorship is Jan. 17.

SCF will host the seventh annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at IMG Academy Golf Club, 4350 El Conquistador Pkwy., Bradenton. Social hour begins at 6 p.m.

Inductees to be honored at the ceremony include two former baseball players, Ryan Moore and Tom Cook.

Tickets are $40. Sponsorship opportunities range from $100 to $1,000. The deadline to purchase tickets and participate in sponsorship is Jan. 17.

SCF alumni games are scheduled at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W.:

  •     10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, SCF Manatees Softball at the SCF Softball Field, 34th Street West and 60th Avenue West. Softball signing will follow the game.
  •     2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, SCF Manatees Baseball at the Robert C. Wynn Field, 34th Street West and 57th Avenue West.


Alumni games attract former SCF coaches and players, including many former and current Major League Baseball players. Admission is free to the baseball and softball alumni games.
