Schools and Education FELT Thanks Community for Overwhelming Support

Posted

Hip, Hip, Hooray to the wonderful people of Manatee County who rallied behind Feeding Empty Little Tummies (FELT) to feed our homeless children with weekend backpacks this school year.

Because so many people believed in FELT and were so generous, we were able to give these children 12,427 meals, plus milk, bread, fruit, vegetables-wand two lollipops every week. The packs also included some personal hygiene articles, such as toothbrush/paste, two new books and a toy at Christmas.

FELT grew from three to nine schools over the year and has committed to adopt a 10th school with a large population of homeless children in the Fall. Our children are now on summer vacation, but FELT isn't. Historically, we'll have somewhere around 1,000 homeless children come through our school doors in the fall, so FELT will be working all summer to raise funds/food to feed them next year.

For more information and opportunities how you can help, please visit our website at feltinc.org. Or, call me at 941.747.8804.

On behalf of our homeless children, a hearty "Thank You" to the caring, sharing people of Manatee County.

Jane Evers
FELT Founder/Chairman
