Schools and Education Whistleblower Suit Filed Against Manatee School for the Arts

The private corporation that owns Manatee School for the Arts is being sued by OSHA for violating federal whistleblower statutes. The suit asks Renaissance Arts and Education Inc. to reinstate a teacher that was fired in there 2009, only a month after he sent a supervisor an email detailing safety violations in the school's facilities.

The suit seeks back wages and damages for the teacher, while also asking the court to grant a permanent injunction to prevent a repeat occurrence. The Manatee School for the Arts is a charter school within the Manatee School District, however, its personnel operate outside of the school district's administration.
