Schools Zones Back in Effect

Posted

BRADENTON -- Schools in the Manatee County School District return to class Monday, which means that school buses will be back on the road, and school zones will once again be in effect.

TBT reminds readers to observe the posted speed limits in speed zones and be extra alert for students on both foot and bicycle.

Morning drive times will also likely increase, so drivers should plan for extra time on their morning commutes.

According to state law, vehicles must stop for stopped school buses that have their signal deployed. Vehicles cannot pass a school bus until it’s flashing “stop” signal is withdrawn.

Traffic moving in opposite directions must still stop, unless there is a barrier, raised curb or grass median dividing the highway.
