August 22, 2024
Bradenton, Florida - Sharon Boeglin Mills went home to her Savior on August 22nd, 2024, at the age of 79. Sharon was born in 1945 to Oscan John and Lettie Allen (Kenley) Boeglin, in Evansville, IN. The family moved to St. Petersburg, FL in 1949, where she grew up and attended school.
Sharon spent her career in city, county, and State Government in Florida. She moved to Manatee County in 1986 where she retired from the Manatee County Administrator's Office in 2005, after completing her last 17 years of State service.
Sharon's passion was for rescuing animals, and since she was a terrible foster mother, she ended up adopting 17 cats and dogs, plus 3 birds, all of which finished their natural lives at her home (but, not all at once!).
Sharon was a regular donor to the Humane Society of Manatee County, and Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, UT. In addition to animals, Sharon had a heart for the homeless and hungry, particularly children, and never missed an opportunity to give what she had each month to Feeding Empty Little Tummies, The Salvation Army, Samaritan's Purse, as well as the missions and organizations sponsored under the auspices of her church.
Sharon is predeceased by her parents, and her older brother, Eugene Boeglin.
Sharon is survived by twin sons, Raymond E. of Orlando, FL, and Gene D. Mills of North East, PA; her grandchildren Kenley L., and Raymond E. Mills Jr., "RJ", also of Orlando. Her cousin, Father John Boeglin, Evansville, IN; sister-in-law, Judy Boeglin, as well as many nieces, and nephews.
Sharon will be cremated and inurned in the family plot at Memorial Park Cemetery, 4900 54th Ave N., St Petersburg, FL 33709.
Sharon and the family have requested in lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the Guardian Angel Program through Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Rd. Kanab, UT 84741.
