Skimboard Bash to benefit Mote Marine

If you've ever wanted to know more about skimboards, your chance will come on Oct. 4.

The Fifth annual Skimboard Contest and Exhibition will be held at the BeachHouse Restaurant, 200 Gulf Drive, Anna Maria Island, starting at 7:30 a.m. The event will benefit the Mote Marine Laboratory.  

There will be professional and amateur demonstrations, and competitions in eight different divisions. There will be trophies for first-, second- and third-place winners in each division and prizes for first-, second-, third- and fourth-place winners in each division.

There will also be prize giveaways and fun for the whole family.

The entry deadline is Friday, Oct. 2, and the entry fee is $30. Check in is at 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 4, and the competition starts at 8:30 a.m.

The entry fee for entering on the day of the event is $40.
