S.O.B. Burgers to be Featured on America's Best Restaurants Roadshow

MANATEE COUNTY — Iconic Manatee County eatery S.O.B. Burgers will be featured in an upcoming episode of America's Best Restaurants Roadshow.  The popular YouTube channel and social media outlet plans to visit S.O.B. later this month.

America’s Best Restaurants, a national media and marketing company focusing on bringing attention to local, independently-owned restaurants, will bring its ABR Roadshow to the restaurant on February 20.  Popular dishes will be highlighted, along with an extensive on-camera interview with owners Cristian DiSanto and Karla Marticorena about the restaurant’s special place in the community. The episode will be aired extensively on social media channels at a later date.

Opened by Justin and Amy Swisher in 2014, S.O.B. (South of Bradenton) remains a popular dining spot under the now-ownership of Marticorena and Disanto, who took over in 2018. Although they have extensive restaurant experience, S.O.B. Burgers is their first venture as owners.

“Our key is to have fresh ingredients. We cut our veggies and make our patties every morning,” Marticorena says. “We use the best ingredients and put so much love in each dish like we are making it for our family.”

The popular eatery has a corrugated metal bar, license plates on the walls, and a slight sports-bar-esque vibe with a highly rated menu of appetizers, a few sandwiches, and homemade sides like coleslaw and baked beans, but the burgers are the draw and have won several awards in the area such as The Bradenton Times’ B.O.M.B. (Best of Manatee/Bradenton) award for Best Burger, a Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice award winner, and #66 of Yelp’s top 100 burgers in the USA in 2023.

Popular burgers that may make an appearance on the episode include the Voodoo Burger, topped with Cajun cream cheese, caramelized onions, and bacon, or the Holy Grail, a double patty with a mac-and-cheese patty on top along with bacon and cheese. 

Restaurants featured on the ABR Roadshow are selected based on their customer reviews, menu items, social media presence, and level of involvement with their community. They are found through customer nominations, internal vetting, or by a restaurant applying to be featured at www.americasbestrestaurants.com.
