Posted

Nancy Fetzner, a volunteer with the North Manatee Soccer Club, was arrested this week after a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office investigation found that she had misused club funds for personal expenses.

On June 29, MCSO was notified of suspected financial fraud involving the club. As detectives interviewed members of the organization and reviewed its financial records, they learned that Fetzner the club’s treasurer, was suspected of using club funds for personal expenses.

A club volunteer with access to the organization’s financial statements identified numerous transactions that appeared to be unrelated to club business. The transactions included purchases involving Disney, a trip to Las Vegas, and various sporting events. The investigation identified at least $8,000 in such purchases, along with numerous additional transactions that appeared to be personal.

MCSO Economic Crimes detectives discovered that starting in August 2023, Fetzner, 52, deposited over $44,000 into a club sub-account through remote deposits. She also transferred nearly $102,000 from the club’s primary business account to the same sub-account. The investigation revealed that Fetzner used the funds from the sub-account to cover personal travel and living expenses, resulting in a total loss of more than $146,000 for the North Manatee Soccer Club.

Fetzner was charged with Scheme to Defraud $50,000 or more. Following her arrest on the active warrant, she was removed from her position as treasurer of the North Manatee Soccer Club.
